Special Meeting Notice

Saturday, November 23, 2002
For Election of Officers
1:00 p.m.
St. Paul’s Episcopal Church,
18th and Washington Blvd.

(Enter through back door in the alley)

Candidates:

At-large board members:
Tom Gordon, Mary Collins, and Tara Falconio.

Treasurer: Rick Yarnell

Secretary: Mary Cutting

President-elect: Susan Maier

(Nominations will also be taken at the meeting, if you would like to run for office.)

At our regularly scheduled annual meeting on November 5, we did not have a quorum and could not legally elect officers for 2003.

So we will have a special meeting Saturday, Nov. 23, at 1 p.m. to do that job.

This meeting should only take a few minutes. Our only business will be to elect officers for 2003.

Please put this on your calendar:

St. Paul's Episcopal Church
1 p.m. Saturday, November 23.

Children's Christmas Party

The third annual Children's Christmas Party will be held on Tuesday, December 3rd, at 6 p.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. All neighborhood children and grandchildren, from toddlers through elementary school age, are invited to attend. Older siblings are encouraged to volunteer to be elves for our neighborhood Santa. We ask that all parents and grandparents RSVP the children who will be attending no later than Monday, December 2nd, so that gift bags can be prepared ahead of time.
As with all the children's events, we encourage other parents to volunteer. Specifically, we need donations of cookies, gift bags and tissue paper. We also need two helpers to assist Santa with the gifts, two servers at the refreshment table, and two crafty people to assist the children with a simple craft to take home. So, if you can help in any way or if you have a child's name to RSVP, please contact Mary Ann Kancel at 321-2141.

December Meeting / Christmas Party
Dec. 3, 2002
7 p.m., St Paul's Episcopal Church

HWNA does not usually hold a meeting in December, and this year will be no different.

Instead, as usual, we will have a Holiday Party, immediately following the children's Christmas Party on Tuesday, Dec. 3rd.

All Westheight neighbors are invited.

Please bring refreshments, games, whatever you enjoy having at a party, and plan on spending a few relaxes minutes with your neighbors.

We also ask those who attend to bring canned goods or other nonperishable items to donate to St. Paul's food pantry. St. Paul's makes their church available for our meetings all year long at no charge to HWNA, and we encourage our members to repay them by donating items or cash to their food pantry.

Help Us Decorate the Westheight Neighborhood

We've canceled the homes tour, but we still plan to decorate the Westheight neighborhood. On Saturday, Nov. 23, Westheight nieghbors will be placing ribbons on all the streetlamps and decorating the tree in the triangle at Hoel Blvd. and Washington Blvd. To volunteer to help, contact Melva Willett, 321-7768. You don't need any special skills or strength.

Hallowe'en Party a Success

There were witches and ghoulies galore at the third annual Hallowe'en Parade and Party. More than 45 neighborhood children participated this year, from the tiniest M&M to the scariest velociraptor. Many adults volunteered to make this a special night. Special thanks to Don and Kathy Caswell, Melva Stine, Carolyn Walden and her daughter Holly, Amy Falk, Kaye and Charlie Cummings, Susan Maier, Clairie Fredrickson, Kathleen Jasinskas, Rich Lilley, Kim Hannigan and Mary Ann Kancel. We also want to thank the people at St. Paul's for letting us use their wonderfully decorated hall at the last minute because of the cold weather.
