Charles K. Wells Residence
2101 Washington Boulevard
Victor J. DeFoe, Architect
Built 1924
This is one of two houses built with a connecting passageway; the house to which it is connected is next door at 2103 Washington Boulevard. The two houses were designed as a unit for Charles K. Wells, president of Exchange State Bank. The Wells family lived here. The house is a two-story, brick-faced tile block structure which might be considered Itallian Renaissance in style were it not for the Arts & Crafts flavor of the projecting wood and stucco wings. A newspaper notice referred to the house as "Colonial" in style, and it was likely sold to the client as such.
